Dolly Parton is the subject of a new documentary special! Titled Biography: Dolly, the program's part of A&E's planned trilogy of biographies honouring country's biggest stars, and People has the exclusive details!
Biography: Dolly will chronicle Parton's life "from her childhood spent in poverty to her early days in Nashville, Tennessee," as well as placing focus on her many hit songs throughout the years. It will even include the recent 50th anniversary celebration of her career, which was held at the Grand Ole Opry!

Parton's new documentary: more details on Biography: Dolly
Several of Parton's friends and musical contemporaries, such as Jane Fonda and Linda Perry, are seen talking about the country star in a recently released promo for the documentary. Chris Stapleton, Kylie Minogue, Lily Tomlin, and others are said to also be appearing in the special, which has a runtime of two hours. As well, Biography: Dolly will feature exclusive interviews of Parton herself!
"I wanted to be seen, I wanted to be recognized, I wanted to be a star,” Parton is seen saying at the beginning of the promo for Biography: Dolly. “I know I look artificial, but I might surprise you. I’m totally real inside".

Biography: Dolly is set to premiere April 12th at 8 PM EST on A&E, followed by a feature on Willie Nelson titled Willie Nelson: American Outlaw. The last of the channel's country legend-themed documentary trilogy, Biography: Kenny Rogers, will be premiering the following day.
