- Jennifer Grey shared the incident in her new book
- He didn't want to say "Nobody puts Baby in a corner"
It turns out Patrick Swayze wasn't a fan of the most famous line in Dirty Dancing.
Star Jennifer Grey shared the story in her new memoir Out of the Corner. She says that Swayze "strenuously resisted" his character's iconic line: "Nobody puts Baby in a corner."
The Dirty Dancing line Patrick Swayze "resisted"
In her book, Jennifer Grey explained that the Dirty Dancing script had problems ahead of the shoot. She had issues with certain lines, and her co-star Patrick Swayze felt the same way.
"Patrick had similar issues with his dialogue, and strenuously resisted saying the now-famous line, 'Nobody puts Baby in a corner'," Grey wrote, according to Business Insider. But while some lines were cleaned up, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner" went unchanged.
It all comes as a bit of a surprise, seeing as it's one of the most famous movie lines ever. But Patrick Swayze did explain his stance. In his memoir, Swayze wrote that he felt it was "corny" but later changed his opinion when he saw the film.
