Long-running soap Days of Our Lives is letting go of Chandler Massey and Freddie Smith. Soap fans are reeling from the news after Smith announced on Twitter that the show denied to renew both his and Massey's contracts.

Freddie Smith: "It was not our choice"
"Chandler and I were released from our contracts… It was not our choice. [We] were looking forward to staying on and signing our contracts and keep the storyline going. I do understand that there’s a lot happening with ‘Days of Our Lives’. For the past five or six years, it seems like every year we don’t know if we’re going to get picked up. And this year, with talks of streaming services, there’s so much going on," he told fans in a video.
There was a strange moment in November 2019 when news emerged that the show was renewed for a 56th season and they had released the entire cast from their contracts. This is turn resulted in the show have to make some salary cuts.
Days of Our Lives: "Sonny" and "Will's" Departure
Fans will have some time to prepare for "Sonny" and "Will's" departure as the show is shot many months in advanced. Their final episode is reportedly going to take place in September 2020.
