Ana de Armas has taken over the role of leading lady in the upcoming Apple TV+ film Ghosted! As Deadline shared on Friday, de Armas is stepping in to star alongside Chris Evans in the project, which Scarlett Johansson had originally been attached to.

De Armas and Evans set to reunite once again

De Armas is most known for starring in the 2019 ensemble thriller Knives Out, and has recently gained recognition for her scene-stealing turn in the new James Bond flick No Time to Die. As for why she's now taking over the role Johansson was supposed to fill, Deadline explains that the Black Widow star's exit is said to be the result of "a scheduling conflict" since the film plans to shoot in February.

Johansson and Evans have worked closely together within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so the project would have reunited them outside of the franchise. However, de Armas joining the cast means that she will be working with Evans for a third time! The two first shared the screen in Knives Out, and have filmed an upcoming action thriller for Netflix called The Gray Man alongside Ryan Gosling.

De Armas and Evans are also being credited as part of the film's production team, as executive producer and producer respectively. While there is not much information about the film itself, the outlet says it is "a high concept romantic action adventure film" based on an original premise. Ghosted will be directed by Dexter Fletcher, with a script penned by Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
