Her shocking choice to leave the superhero show!
Samantha "Just Sam" Diaz has shared what she wants to be able to do next now that she's officially been named the season 3 winner of American Idol! As People reports, Diaz had a phone conference with reporters following the show's season finale, during which time she opened up about life post-Idol.
"It’s definitely a whirlwind for me," the 21-year-old said of being announced as the show's winner in Sunday's virtual finale. "First things first, I'm going home to my grandma and I'm going to hug her. That’s the first thing I am going to do. I hope to be able to put out music. I am going to try to do what American Idol was trying to do in the beginning and that is bring family and friends together during this time when we need each other most. We shouldn't be alone."

"Just Sam" hopes she will be able to reach people globally
Diaz continued on to share more details about how she wants her future to look. And as she told reporters, it includes having her voice heard worldwide! "After this, I hope to be able to inspire more people and reach more people all across the country and across the world," she said. "That is my plan and my hope."
Before American Idol, Diaz had gotten by singing in subway trains. Her incredible story of determination, combined with her soulful voice and positive energy, quickly endeared her to many who tuned into the show.
"This whole competition just reminded me and showed me just how strong I am and just how much worth I have," Diaz explained. "I love myself, don’t get me wrong, but I think it's easy for people to forget they're worth when things get tough. I think that's the thing that I learned about myself from this competition."
