American Idol made history last month as the show continued to broadcast remotely amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The contestants and judges continued on their season 3 journey to find the 2020 "American Idol" and last night, the winner was revealed.
American Idol Season 3 Winner Revealed
Harlem, New York native Just Sam, also known as Samantha Diaz, was crowned the season 3 winner! Her performance last night was absolutely breathtaking and she is incredibly deserving of this title. "My grandmother has been saying that she doesn’t believe that people like us can have their dreams come true. This is proof to her!" Just Sam said on Idol.
"I kept on pushing, kept on singing and look where it’s brought me. I hope to inspire all the little girl who believe their dreams can’t come true. Anyone can do it," the 20-year-old former subway singer said according to People.

American Idol Season 3 Finale Performances
The virtual finale featured performances by Cynthia Erivo, Lauren Daigle, Rascal Flatts and Doug Kiker as well as songs by Idol judges Luke Bryan and mother-to-be- Katy Perry!
Lionel Richie also performed "We are the World" with the other two judges, the top 11 and other famous Idol alum including Gabby Barrett, Jordin Sparks, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Laine Hardy, Scarypoolparty, Fantasia, Lauren Alaina, Phillip Phillips, Ruben Studdard and Scotty McCreery.
