It looks like the Duchess of Sussex will not become a British Citizen. As it turns out, she simply won't be able to meet the requirements necessary to obtain the citizenship since she and Prince Harry are now splitting their time between Great Britain and Canada.

The rules state that she cannot live out of the country for more than 90 days in her first three years, which will (probably) be impossible for her to do given her and her husband's recent move after their exit from the royal family, according to the Mirror

Duchess Meghan: Will she NOT become a British citizen after all?

The Duchess is thought to be in her second year of the three-year process towards naturalisation after she married Prince Harry in May of 2018, but now it seems like she will not become a citizen after all. She might have already abandoned the entire process ever since she and Harry left for Canada.

A government source tells The Sun that anyone making a bid for citizenship must show a "strong commitment to the UK and an intention to live here", which does not fit the Duke and Duchess' current living arrangements at all.
