Whirlwind Tour: Inside Charles And Camilla's Canada Visit

Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla recently embarked on their latest royal tour, arriving in Canada on Tuesday! Their visit comes as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and saw them travel to several different provinces to participate in various engagements.

The couple began their tour in Newfoundland and Labrador before later heading to Ottawa and Yellowknife. From greeting locals to visiting memorials and receiving medals, Charles and Camilla have been seen all over the place as they toured the Commonwealth nation this week. Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla found themselves greeted by locals when they stepped off the plane at their first Canadian stop! The royals touched down in St Johns, and could be seen shaking hands and receiving a bouquet of flowers. Charles wore a navy suit with a patterned tie, while Camilla looked stylish in a long white coat and brown hat with a fur trim.

The first event Charles and Camilla were seen at during their tour saw them reflect on a devastating tragedy. The couple were seen at a ceremony in the Heart Garden, where they took a moment of silence in honour of the province's Indigenous children who were sent to residential schools.

The two royals were also seen enjoying a much more lighthearted moment later that day when they made a stop at Quidi Vidi, a local brewery! Charles and Camilla were snapped attempting to pull pints— something Charles has notoriously found to be a challenge in the past. They were in good spirits and smiled from behind the bar!

Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla then travelled to Ottawa for the second day of their Canadian tour. The couple were seen participating in another solemn event— an ceremony taking place at the National War Memorial. Wearing a blue dress and standing alongside her husband, Camilla was seen placing a wreath and some flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Since Charles and Camilla's visit coincides with the Queen's Jubilee celebrations, it's only fitting that they took part in a special conservation project in honour of the monarch's milestone! They were seen planting a tree as they officially launched the Queen’s Green Canopy project.

While they were there, Charles and Camilla also took a moment to sign a special book. The royals added their signatures to the Veteran Affairs Canada Visitor's Book, which commemorates the lives of more than 100,000 Canadians who died while fighting for the nation.

Charles also found himself bestowed with a special honour while in Ottawa! The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall attended the Order of Military Merit ceremony. It was there that Charles received a brand-new title from Mary Simon, the Governor General of Canada in recognition of his service to the nation— Extraordinary Commander of the Order of Military Merit.

As is often the case with royal tours, Charles and Camilla found themselves receiving great fanfare! Schoolchildren from Ottawa's Assumption School were delighted to meet the royals, proudly waving Canadian flags as they had the chance to converse with them.

Charles and Camilla also took the time to stop by a local marketplace in the area! The royals talked to those who were involved in the process of producing and distributing goods, finding out more about the local wares.
