The Queen's Birthday Parade 2021: Guest List Confirmed

Details on Trooping the Colour 2021 were confirmed by Buckingham Palace today. Queen Elizabeth's official birthday parade will go ahead next week on June 12. Like last year, it won't take place in London, nor will the Royal Family attend with the Queen. But the monarch will be joined by one relative for the occasion. Here's what to know.

Today, the Palace outlined plans for this year's Trooping the Colour, which will take place next Saturday, June 12. The military parade will be held at Windsor Castle once again, where the Queen will attend with just one other Royal Family member.

Traditionally, the Queen is joined by the full Royal Family at the event, but she observed her birthday parade without family in 2020 due to the pandemic. This year, however, she will have one relative by her side: Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, a cousin of the Queen.

The Queen and the Duke of Kent will view the military parade in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle. Per the official announcement, after arriving, they "will be greeted by a Royal Salute, and the National Anthem.

"The parade will commence with the Musical Troop as the Band plays. The Colour will then be trooped through the ranks, and the parade will conclude with a second Royal Salute.

"The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery will then fire a 41 Gun Royal Salute, to mark Her Majesty’s Official Birthday, from the East Lawn at Windsor Castle," the Palace said.

Royal fans can rest easy knowing that Trooping the Colour will go ahead in 2021. We now also know that the Duke of Kent will accompany the Queen, as had been speculated going back to last week.

The birthday parade will look similar to last year's reduced ceremony, but the Queen will at least have family by her side for the 2021 event. The monarch turned 95 years old in April, but her official birthday falls in June.

Following Trooping the Colour 2021, the Queen will also host US President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden at Windsor Castle the next day, June 13.
