- Prince Harry and Meghan have won a new award
- They'll be recognized at the NAACP Image Awards
- They won the 2022 President's Award
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan can add another trophy to their collection.
The royal couple has been revealed as winners of the "2022 President's Award" from the NAACP Image Awards. Harry and Meghan will be at the award show on Saturday night.
Why the NAACP chose Meghan and Prince Harry
The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) commented on their choice in a statement, and Meghan and Harry have reacted to the honour.
NAACP President Derrick Johnson wrote: "We're thrilled to present this award to Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who together have heeded the call to social justice and have joined the struggle for equity both in the US and around the world."
In response, the proud Prince and his wife said: "It's a true honor to be recognized by President Derrick Johnson and the NAACP, whose efforts to propel racial justice and civil rights are as vital today as they were nearly 115 years ago. We're proud to support the NAACP's work."
Also interesting:
It's another win for the couple this award season. Just this week, Duchess Meghan earned the "Dress of the Year" honour from The Fashion Museum.
Meghan's dress worn during the couple's interview with Oprah Winfrey took the prize. The interview itself also earned an Emmy nomination as a TV special last year.
Royal fans continue to be divided by Harry and Meghan's post-royal lives. But the NAACP has clearly taken notice of their work, which does often focus on areas like racial justice and the online world.
