This statement comes after the fact that Harry has launched an official legal challenge to the U.K. government's refusal to let him personally pay for police protection whenever he comes back home, claiming that his U.S. security detail doesn't have the appropriate jurisdiction to protect him in Britain.
The British government has denied his petition for arranging a personal police detail, as it would set a dangerous precedent for other high-profile members of society to do the same. However, an official statement from the government has not been released, as this would be deemed to be "inappropriate" in an ongoing case.
Prince Harry's lawyer, Shaheed Fatima, said that Harry "does not feel safe when he is in the U.K. given the security arrangements applied to him. - It goes without saying that he does want to come back to see family and friends and to continue to support the charities that are so close to his heart," she said. "Most of all, this is and always will be, his home."
Preliminary hearings are underway, and so, it's likely this story will resolve itself in the coming weeks. In any case, it goes to further show how much distance Prince Harry now has from his former life.
