• The royal family has changed their website
  • It is meant to reflect a shift in titles
  • The change is due to Prince Harry

The life and times of the British royal family is very well-documented. And perhaps the biggest story in recent years has been Prince Harry's departure from the royal family, the crown, and indeed, the institution itself. His withdrawal of his official royal status meant that many things had to change going forward. The monarchy was faced with a new era in its history. It's not that others hadn't renounced their titles before...but never had it been so public and prevalent in the minds of the British people.

With that, the palace makes it official

On Tuesday, the royal blog Gert’s Royals pointed out on X (formerly Twitter) that the royal family’s UK website has been refreshed to feature four other official web pages. This comes right after Prince Harry’s "His Royal Highness" title was stripped from the royal family’s website in early August. This signified a major shift in relations between Prince Harry and the royal family.

Here are the changes that have been made as reported by 'People' magazine. The new menu on the Royal.UK page toggles to The Royal Collection Trust, The Prince's Trust, The Royal Foundation and The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. And the drop-down option has a spot at the top of the website and also featured a new addition. You can now click on "Their Majesties' work as Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall," which links to an archive of speeches, messages, press releases and news from the Clarence House website.

Also interesting:

For those of you who didn't know, King Charles and Queen Camilla have lived there since 2003. They both operated under the same banner up until Charles' accession to the throne. The royals take no time in making changes. Just a few days after Queen Elizabeth’s death, it was reported they would start using the official Royal Family social media pages instead.

Even though the Clarence House accounts are still accessible on Twitter and Instagram, the bios now read, "This account is no longer being updated. Please follow @theroyalfamily for updates on His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort."

For the royal family, it's always been important to keep the public up to date. These latest changes reflect the reality of their family status. The fact that Harry has been removed officially, in many ways dampens the hopes some had of an eventual return into the fold. It's been reported that King Charles will have talks with Prince Harry soon.

Who knows if things will change again?
