Andy Cohen finally had a Princess Diana rumor confirmed when talking with Burt Reynolds's ex-wife Loni Anderson on Watch What Happens Live.
Princess Diana Sent Burt Reynolds a Thank You Note
The late actor Burt Reynolds disclosed in his 2015 memoir that Princess Diana had sent him a thank you note for distracting the press away from her divorce with Prince Charles. Princess Diana had been the target of tabloid fodder for her entanglement in the love triangle with her husband Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles (Now Duchess Camilla).
Burt Reynolds had a juicy romance and marriage with his Stoker Ace co-star Loni Anderson. The two married in 1988 and adopted a child together before Burt fell in love with a cocktail waitress that spurned their 1994 brutal divorce.
Their divorce became one of the ugliest and most drama-filled legal battles in Hollywood, earning cover stories on tabloids around the world. "The People's Princess" Diana was allegedly grateful for the attention to be off of her divorce with Charles so Burt claimed she sent him a thank you note.
In his memoir, Enough About Me, Burt wrote: "Princess Diana sent me a thank-you note for keeping her off the cover of People magazine. For a long time after the divorce, the tabloids were still calling Loni and me 'cheesecake and beefcake.'"
Andy Cohen had the bombshell Loni Anderson (75) on Watch What Happens Live where a fan asked her, "Is it true that Princess Diana once sent a thank you note to Burt because your split kept her out of the tabloid covers for a bit."
Loni giggled and confirmed, "Yes, that's true." Andy Cohen was gobsmacked and burst out saying, "No way! Wow! That's incredible!"
According to TMZ Burt and Loni's divorce continued up until 2015 when Burt finally paid the outstanding debt he owed to Loni that he had been avoiding for years. Sadly the Smokey and the Bandit actor passed away in 2018 and Loni attended his funeral with their son Quinton whom she called their "greatest collaboration."
