Princes Beatrice finally got to marry her true love Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi! After much delay due to the pandemic, she finally had her big day in an intimate ceremony with 20 close friends and family present, including the Queen who gave her much more than her blessing!
Princess Beatrice Wears Queen Elizabeth's Gown and Tiara
Princess Beatrice's wedding gown had so much more meaning than just a wedding dress. It was actually a dress her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II has worn on very special occasions! It was an ivory Peau De Soie taffeta dress trimmed with ivory satin and customized to the Princess. The dress was even designed by Norman Hartnell who designed the dress the Queen wore for her wedding to Prince Philip!
Queen Elizabeth II had worn the dress 3 times, once for a 1961 state dinner in Rome, for the world charity premiere of Lawrence of Arabia, and for the 1967 re-opening of Parliament.
The Queen also loaned Princess Beatrice the tiara she wore on her own wedding day! The Queen had only loaned the extra special tiara once before to her daughter Princess Anne for her 1973 wedding day and had been saving this tiara specifically for Beatrice whom she is quite close with.
Princess Beatrice Resembles Mother Sarah Ferguson On Her 1986 Wedding Day
The Princess wore the Queen's dress with additions and accessories very similar to her mother Sarah Fergusons' look during her wedding to Prince Andrew. Both wore pronounced sleeves, beaded bodices, used with Duchesse satin, and were similar in shape. It is hard to not see the touching similarity!
At the wedding, Sarah read her daughter's favorite Shakespear passage during the tear-jerking ceremony.
Congratulations, Princess Beatrice!
