Prince William (42) attended the reopening of a public swimming pool in Birtley on October 3. He talked about his son Prince George (11) at the event and he seems to have a very special hobby.

The up-and-coming royal likes to take a little more risk in his free time: "George loves scuba diving. He's 11 years old. We took him under thinking he would freak out. He absolutely loves it. It's just introducing him to the world of water," Prince William explained, as reported by 'Hello!'

George seems to be inspired by his parents' sporting interests. In 2022, the Prince and Princess of Wales used their royal Caribbean trip to explore the Belize Barrier Reef while scuba diving at South Water Caye.

The family's enthusiasm for sport is also evident in other activities. Prince William played water polo during his school years, while Princess Kate revealed in the podcast 'The Good, The Bad & The Rugby' that she loves a cold swim: "The colder, the better. I absolutely love it," says Kate.

During his visit to Birtley Community Pool, Prince William also hinted that the family are passionate spectators of the Olympic Games. However, due to Princess Kate's chemotherapy, he decided not to travel to the Games in Paris.

"I was so keen to come, but I have to say after reading someone's interview about COVID I decided, because my wife was obviously having chemo, that I didn't want to risk bringing COVID home," William revealed.

The royal family, which also includes Princess Charlotte (9) and Prince Louis (6), nevertheless took part in major sporting events in the summer. Among other things, they attended the European Football Championship in Germany and the big Tennis tournament at Wimbledon.
