Prince William is recognizing the young people who are making this world a better place! As People shares, the Duke of Cambridge recently met the five individuals selected as BBC Radio 1's Teen Heroes this year, hosting them at Kensington Palace on Tuesday.
William gave "so much time" to Teen Heroes, DJ says
Prince William met lifesaving Harry, fundraiser Jake, caregiver and nursing student Keah, mental health advocate Madison, and disabled motocross rider Tom. After hearing about their accomplishments, he presented each of the teenagers a special certificate. BBC Radio 1 defines their Teen Heroes as those who have made "selfless, brave and exceptional achievements," which is true of all the honorees!
The Duke of Cambridge has been personally showing his appreciation for the radio station's Teen Heroes for several years now. The station's DJ Greg James said it was "a really special afternoon" for all involved, mentioning that William had given "so much time to hear their stories and offer support" during the special event. James also said the honour intends to "make a fuss of some remarkable young people who wouldn't ever think they deserved it."
Prince William doesn't invite just anyone to Kensington Palace, so the fact the group of teens were granted an audience with him there is certainly a big deal! William has been known to make time to meet with young people who are doing things that make a difference in their communities. During a recent visit to Leeds last month, the royal even stopped by a youth charity after meeting with refugees.
