Prince William faces a busy year ahead, and he just resumed royal duties for the first time. An important investiture ceremony was on the agenda.
In the centuries-old tradition, members of the Royal Family present medals to people deserving of the honour. Prince William took action and prepared for his future as king during the event at Windsor Castle.
Prince William hosts an investiture ceremony
Prince William received a special honour at the ceremony: with a sword, he knighted the former captain and coach of the West Indian cricket team Clive Lloyd.
Other sporting greats such as reigning women's snooker world champion Reanne Evans were also honoured.
For Prince William, the introduction to the investiture is of great importance. Typically, these events are hosted by The Queen herself or another member of the Royal Family on her behalf.
So, the Duke of Cambridge is already preparing for his role as future monarch. When the time comes, William could also bring many changes as king.
He stands second in line to the throne, after his father Prince Charles.
