Prince William is said to have given some words of wisdom to Duchess Kate before she recorded a special podcast interview earlier this year! As People shares, Kate appeared on the podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby back in February, and on Monday's episode of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here, the show's host Giovanna Fletcher opened up about what the experience was like!
William told Kate to "just talk" before recording, says Fletcher
Duchess Kate's interview on the parenting podcast saw her open up about subjects she hadn't gone into detail about before, including the ins and outs of her pregnancy. And while Fletcher expected the interview to be fairly brief, she was pleasantly surprised when she ended up chatting with the Duchess of Cambridge for longer than expected! "They had scheduled 45 minutes," Fletcher said. "We had an hour and a half!"
The podcast host revealed that this window of time was extended due to William's advice to Kate regarding how much she should disclose when it came time to record. "Basically, Prince William had come in as he was briefing her," Fletcher explained, "and he said, 'Just talk. Don’t worry about saying anything you shouldn’t or exposing too much. We can change it in the edit. Just talk.' So she was going to answer everything. It was amazing."
Kate referred to as "absolutely elegant" and "self-deprecating"
Duchess Kate's guest appearance on the podcast certainly made an impact on Fletcher, who had nothing but favourable things to say about her! "What a complete career high. Just two mums nattering away," she shared. "But in true mum fashion, we were nattering so much that by the end we were drinking cold tea!"
Fletcher also told Shane Ritchie— one of her fellow contestants on I'm a Celebrity— that Kate might possibly be her "girl crush," characterizing the royal with words such as "divine", "absolutely elegant", and "self-deprecating". And since the interview was recorded before the coronavirus pandemic, Fletcher's interview ended with a hug— as well as a surprising request from the Duchess of Cambridge!
"'You must stay in touch,'" Fletcher recalled Kate saying. "I was like 'How do you do that?!' The future Queen of England. The mother of the future King!" At the same time as her interview took place, Duchess Kate was beginning her survey project— 5 Big Questions on the Under Fives— aimed at collecting data about children under the age of 5 in the United Kingdom.
