2020 marks the tenth year for the Duke of Cambridge as the President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), and him and his wife Duchess Catherine were not just at the event to mingle.

Prince William also gave out the BAFTA Fellowship Award to a producing legend. In his speech, before presenting Kathleen Kennedy with the Fellowship, the Duke voiced his concerns about a lack of diversity in the awards process. 

 

Prince William: "That simply cannot be right in this day and age!"

Prince William who's been the President of BAFTA since 2010 said: "Both here in the UK and in many other countries across the world we are lucky to have incredible film makers, actors, producers, directors and technicians - men and women from all backgrounds and ethnicities enriching our lives through film."

But he still feels that there's a lot of work to be done when it comes to diversity: "Yet in 2020, and not for the first time in the last few years, we find ourselves talking again about the need to do more to ensure diversity in the sector and in the awards process – that simply cannot be right in this day and age!"

Kathleen Kennedy was awarded the BAFTA's highest honor for her work as a producer for the last 40 years, working alongside Steven Spielberg and George Lucas on legendary films such as Raiders of the Lost Ark and the entire Star Wars Saga. She has been President of Lucasfilm since 2012.
