Prince William and Duchess Kate recently did something fun to show their appreciation for those tirelessly working on the front lines! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been spending time in Scotland this week, and on Wednesday, they hosted an early screening of the brand-new Disney film Cruella at a drive-in cinema in Edinburgh.
William and Kate welcome NHS workers and Cruella star
Prince William and Duchess Kate were seen at the Palace of Holyrood House greeting NHS workers at the special event. In a series of tweets, they said they wanted to thank them for their "extraordinary dedication, commitment and personal sacrifice," and that they were "chosen for going above and beyond over the last year." William and Kate also welcomed actress Tipper Seifert-Cleveland, who plays young "Estella" in the film.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also shared several pictures taken at the Cruella screening on social media, including a photo that showed cars parked outside to watch the film. They then encouraged all those who were in attendance to "grab your popcorn, cuddle up under your blankets and be transported to 1970s Britain for an evening of much-deserved fun, drama, glamour and escapism!"
William and Kate talked to Cruella stars before screening
Prince William and Duchess Kate also had a special video call earlier on in the week with some of the film's leading ladies! As People reports, on Monday the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had an opportunity to chat with Emma Stone, who plays "Cruella," and Emma Thompson, who plays the "Baroness".
During their video call, Stone revealed that she had filmed a scene for Cruella that involves her riding a motorcycle in front of Buckingham Palace. William said the was "very dangerous," and joked that he "should have had you stopped." Thompson also discussed the film's fashion, saying that the others were "all too young" to remember a time when those styles were popular— and she herself had worn them!
