- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have tried to get into Hollywood
- They have struggled to find a foothold
- THIS is what's next for them
The fact is, that Harry and Meghan are coming off a record-breaking show on Netflix with millions of streamers all over the world, as well as a hit podcast and a bestselling book. One could argue that things have gone remarkable well for the couple in the United States. Yet, somehow, finding solid footing in Hollywood remains an ongoing challenge for them as 'People' magazine has reported.
Harry and Meghan are trying like everyone else is
Royal fans are still getting over this piece of news: back in June of this year, the couple agreed to end their contract with Spotify after delivering their one podcast, 'Archetypes', under a reported $20 million deal. But afterwards, executive Bill Simmons publicly criticized the couple. Later that same month, the 'Wall Street Journal' took a critical look at their production company's Netflix output. And then in July, the entertainment industry itself was rocked by a historic writers and actors strike. This has meant that the future looks a little rocky for the ex-royals!
Also interesting:
All of this has amounted to some bad growing pains. "There wasn’t necessarily a five-year plan" — as one royal insider puts it. The couple did tell Oprah Winfrey in their infamous sit-down that the decision was life-or-death. And Prince Harry's big fear is that his wife would suffer the same fate as his mother, Princess Diana, after the constant media scrutiny.
Some experts say Harry and Meghan are being held to a higher standard than other producers. "Very few other production companies are measured by what’s actually hit the airwaves," says a source close to the couple. At the moment, because of the ongoing strikes in Hollywood, the future looks uncertain for them. Meghan recently signed with power agency William Morris Endeavor, while Harry’s Netflix series 'Heart of Invictus', about his competition for veterans and military service personnel, is coming soon, along with this year’s Invictus Games in September!
