Seeds of belonging: The inspiring journey of Welcome Projects across America

With 11 active Welcome Projects stretching from sunny California to the historic streets of Virginia, these hubs are buzzing with activities like sewing, art, and cooking, all designed to foster a sense of belonging. The Impact Report is in, and the numbers are staggering: 98.8% of participants have formed meaningful relationships, while 97.7% report a significant decrease in loneliness. It's a resounding success for community spirit!

The seed for this incredible project was planted during a visit to a New Jersey military base on Veteran’s Day in 2021, where Meghan connected with displaced Afghan families. Realizing the intense social isolation these women faced, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex put their heads together with Team Rubicon and Welcome.US to create a beacon of hope and support.

A holistic approach to empowering women and communities

The Welcome Project isn't just about social gatherings; it's a lifeline offering access to critical resources, educational opportunities, and pathways to employment and entrepreneurship. As the Archewell Foundation puts it, "supporting women means supporting communities."

In a delicious twist, the project also features "Welcome Dinners," reminiscent of Meghan's impactful work with the Hubb Community Kitchen post-Grenfell Tower tragedy. The Duchess's involvement in the release of Together: Our Community Cookbook in 2018 not only provided a tasty collection of 50 recipes but also supported the community kitchen's expansion.
