Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan might end up making an appearance at this year's Oscars! As Express reports, it has been rumoured that Harry could step into the spotlight as one of the hosts of the 2022 Academy Awards, which would be a big coup for the royal.
Prince Harry could skip Oscars over Spencer
The 94th annual Oscars will take place in Los Angeles at the end of March, which isn't far for Harry and Meghan. Since 2020, the couple have been living in Montecito, California with their children Archie and Lilibet. However, it has not yet confirmed whether the two royals will even be present at the event, let alone whether Harry will take the stage.
Royal expert Ross King shared that "there is talk of Tom Hanks, Richard Gere and Prince Harry" co-hosting the event together. Harry appearing with the crème de la crème of Hollywood would surely please many fans! However, a source has told OK! that Prince Harry is "pretty appalled" by the film Spencer, which is about his mother Princess Diana.
Spencer's leading actress Kristen Stewart is very likely to be nominated for the Oscars, and Harry is said to want to avoid a confrontation with her. However, Meghan might insist that the two appear at the ceremony. "He's actually thinking about skipping the Oscars, but Meghan really wants back into the Hollywood scene," the insider explained.
So far, Harry and Meghan have not dared to take the step to participate in such an important American awards ceremony. They are said to have declined to appear as presenters at the Academy Awards in 2020, as well as the 2021 Emmy Awards, where they were nominated for their Oprah interview.
