- Prince Harry is a famous royal living in the US
- America is actually home to other European royals
- Princess Madeleine of Sweden lives in Florida
Wait just a minute. Did you know that Prince Harry isn't the lone "royal" in the United States? Of course, America isn't a monarchy and, as such, has no royal family.
But lots of royal news has come from the US ever since Harry moved with his wife Duchess Meghan in 2020. A different European royal actually got there first, however...
A Swedish princess moved to America before Prince Harry
It was Princess Madeleine of Sweden who crossed over to the US first. She's a daughter of the Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf, and her exit from Sweden has also made for drama over the years.
In the early 2010s, Princess Madeleine was living in New York, and in 2013 she married a British-American financier named Chris O'Neill. The couple also stopped in London before moving to Florida for good in 2018.
Princess Madeleine and her husband share three children together. Their eldest, Princess Leonore, was born in New York City in 2014, while Prince Nicolas and Princess Adrienne were born in Stockholm before the family's move to Miami, Florida.
Also interesting:
Not unlike Prince Harry's situation, the palace has faced unusual decisions on Princess Madeleine and her family, as they live far removed from royal life in Sweden.
She and her kids remain in the Swedish line of succession and have titles, but the children don't have royal status and the palace no longer funds Madeleine as of 2022.
