The Duchess of Sussex (37) hosted a VIP guest at Kensington Palace yesterday. Meghan met with New Zealand's prime minister Jacinda Ardern (38), who is youngest female head of government in the world. The two women met when Meghan and Harry were on their first royal tour last year and the Sussexes attended several events with Ardern. The Prime Minister of New Zealand welcomed the Sussexes as they arrived at the Wellington International Airport Military Terminal, reuniting with them later the same evening for a celebratory welcome reception at Government House in Wellington. The trio also visited the charity Pillars together as well as attending a reception at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.
Mother-to-be Meghan, whose first child with Prince Harry is due this spring, is not the only royal that Arden will be spending time with this week. She will be meeting and attending a panel discussion on mental health at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland along with Prince William later this week.
Ardern and Markle Share a Passion for Women's Rights
It is not surprising that Ardern and Markle get along like a house on fire, both are avid supporters of women's rights and the Duchess of Sussex supports a number of organisations aimed at helping women progress in the workplace. Prime Minister Ardern made history when she brought her three-month-old-baby to New York to attend the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit. This was a bold move, but a ground-breaking one, as it highlighted the difficulties, but also the possibilities for women who are breastfeeding everywhere. Ardern hoped to show that it is possible to be both a world leader and a new mother.
