The style icon that is Duchess Meghan (37) was welcomed by crowds as she arrived at Smart Works on Thursday morning and looked stunning in a tan Oscar de la Renta coat and dress by Hatch, with her hair tied back in a tidy bun. The charity aims to support women who have been unemployed for a long time, helping them regain former skills, boost their confidence and providing them with job interview training.
Fashion Advice From The Duchess Herself
Meghan was greeted by Kate Stephens, CEO of Smart Works and Lady Juliet Hughes-Hallett, who founded the charity and is now its chair. The Duchess of Sussex met staff members and women who have found employment thanks to the charity's work. Meghan's proved herself to be a very hands-on patron, dishing out style advice and helping one of the charity's beneficiaries pick just the right outfit for an upcoming interview. Who wouldn't want a little fashion help from one of 2018's biggest style icons?!
Around fifty percent of the women helped by Smart Works belong to an ethnic minority and have been turned down by employers again and again. Over the past years, the charity has proven that it can be of great benefit to these women in need, sixty percent of women who are helped by the charity go on to find employment.
The charity offers one-to-one interview training for its beneficiaries, as well as providing them with complete outfits for interviews. There is also a Smart Works Network, allowing women involved with the charity and those who have received the charity's help to stay in contact.
