Lady Glenconner released her memoir, Lady in Waiting: My Extraordinary Life in the Shadow of the Crown, five months ago. Anne Glenconner has sold more than 200,000 copies in the UK. She tells her side of the story as the former lady in waiting to Princess Margaret.

The 87-year-old has become a publishing phenomenon with her memoir, as her book is not quite what it seems. When interviewed by The Guardian, she revealed some of her thoughts on the current situation of the British Royal Family following Harry and Meghan's exit as senior working members of the Royal Family.
Lady Glenconner's thoughts on Meghan Markle:
When asked about her thoughts on the Duchess of Sussex, she says that Meghan's mistake was that she didn't understand that all members of the royal family, including those who are considered "spares" must work hard. "I think she thought she could drive around in a golden coach. But it’s actually quite boring. Princess Margaret did so much charity work, and without any photographers, unlike the Princess of Wales," Glenconner says.

Whether or not Meghan did actually believe that, is another thing. What we now know is the the royal couple wanted to become financially independent and live more private lives to raise their son Archie. Harry, Meghan and Archie are currently in self-isolation in Canada amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
