Meghan Markle is truly proud of her role as a mother and can't help but speak about raising her son, Archie. In a new interview with businessman Alexis Ohanian, the Duchess of Sussex spoke on forming a family and the weight that comes with her interracial marriage to Prince Harry and their raising a mixed-race child together.

During the Duke and Duchess's TIME100 Talks special, Meghan spoke with tech entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian about the complications of raising a child in an interracial marriage.
During the conversation, Ohanian—a friend of the Duchess and the partner of tennis star Serena Williams—spoke about his decision to exit the board of directors of his company, Reddit, leaving the role for a person of colour.
The businessman mentioned that he made that decision after thinking about his 3-year-old daughter, Olympia. "Sadly, we are at a place in this country where there is still a lot of work to be done," Ohanian said, referencing the prevalence of systemic racism in the U.S. "I knew I had a responsibility to be able to answer her when she asked me in 10 years — when she's a snarky teenager — what I did to be a part of making things better for her."

In response, Meghan, the former Suits star, showed empathy and noted that she too has had to take a stand while raising 1-year-old Archie. "I know we have shared experiences in being in interracial marriages and raising small children who are of mixed race and how that plays into [their upbringing]," she said.
This is not the first time that Meghan has spoken on parenting decisions as they relate to race, either. Recently, the Duchess spoke at a conference about shaping a world where her son doesn't have to experience the difficulties she was exposed to. "The things you're able to tolerate on your own are not the same that you are going to put your child in a position of vulnerability for," she said.
In addition to hosting their TIME100 Talks special on Tuesday, Harry and Meghan also launched their new website for the Archewell Foundation.
