After unending speculation about the baptism of Lilibet Diana, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have finally spoken out through a spokesperson.
The rep told E! News: "Plans for the baby's christening have not been finalized, and as such, any assumptions about what will or will not take place are mere speculation."
Prince Harry and Meghan: Still unsure of Lilibet's baptism
There's been a back and forth about if Lili will have a royal baptism in the UK or a private ceremony in the US. But it appears Harry and Meghan haven't made a decision.
Just this week, Palace sources had told The Telegraph that the christening won't happen in the UK, and it emerged that the couple is preparing a ceremony in California at The Episcopal Church of the US. But it turns out these details may still be premature.
If Lilibet Diana were baptized in America, it would mean that she would not become a member of the Church of England. Most recently it was reported that Prince William was personally against a royal baptism for Lilibet in England.
Another report noted that even Harry and Meghan are themselves in disagreement about where their daughter should be christened. The Duchess is said to want Lilibet baptized in the UK, while Harry is said to prefer an intimate ceremony in the US.
When their son Archie was baptized, the Sussexes attached great importance to privacy and left some royal traditions behind. If Lilibet Diana's baptism isn't in England, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan will also break a sacred royal tradition.
However, for now, there is no official decision, even as baby Lili is now 4 months old. Royal fans are also still waiting to see a first photo of the little royal.
