On March 6, 2025, Princess Kate appeared at a major event in the royal calendar for the first time in two years. Following her cancer diagnosis, which forced her to greatly reduce her public appearances in 2024, she took part in the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in London.

She was accompanied by Prince William, King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, and Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester.

Princess Kate returns - with a killer look

Kate wore a red coat dress by Catherine Walker with bow details, red high heels and a matching hat by Gina Foster. She also honored her late mother-in-law Lady Diana and the Queen with very special accessories.

She complemented her outfit with Queen Elizabeth's four-strand Garrard pearl choker with diamond clasp and Diana's Collingwood pearl earrings. Kate looked radiantly beautiful during her appearance and definitely attracted everyone's attention.

King Charles' health progress

King Charles also returned to Commonwealth Day after being unable to attend the previous year due to a cancer diagnosis. In February 2024, the palace announced that he had been diagnosed in January following treatment for a benign enlargement of the prostate. The King resumed his public duties in April and has been back at all appointments since then.

Significance of Commonwealth Day

Commonwealth Day is the first big event of the year for the royal family and takes place at the location of Prince William and Princess Kate's wedding in 2011.

The Commonwealth is a voluntary network of 56 nations, most formerly under British rule, and aims to enrich the lives of its 2.7 billion citizens. The Commonwealth Day 2025 theme, 'Together We Thrive', celebrates the enduring community spirit of the Commonwealth family.

For Kate and King Charles, it is the first time they have attended the day since 2023, having been absent last year for health reasons.
