Before Meghan Markle's fairytale Royal wedding to gorgeous Prince Harry, Meghan married film producer Trevor Engelson. Usually, divorcée's are not permitted to marry into the British Royal family (like poor Princess Margaret wished to) but now that the Royal's are modernizing their rules, the Queen gave her permission and blessing to Prince Harry and Meghan.
Queen Elizabeth II welcomed Meghan into the family with open arms and she married the handsome red-headed Duke of Sussex in the beautiful Royal wedding that was televised for millions of us to enjoy. But before her fairytale romance came to be, she was married to Trevor.
Trevor Engleson is a film and TV producer from New York. His name is behind films like License to Wed starring Robin Williams, Remember Me starring Robert Pattinson, and the Heather's reboot. He and Meghan Markle met in 2004 and dated for seven years before they married almost 9 years ago on September 10th, 2011.
Meghan Markle's First Wedding and Divorce
Meghan and Trevor had a gorgeous and intimate wedding at a fancy Jamaican resort in Ocho Rios. According to Hello! 107 friends and family attended their beachfront wedding as opposed to the 600 guests at Harry and Meghan's ceremony, not including the almost 12 million viewers of the televised event. Suits star Meghan was 30 and her husband was 35, and as luxurious as the wedding was, their marriage did not last long.
Meghan worked on her hit show in Toronto and her husband continued to work in Los Angeles and this is what was believed to pull the couple apart. The two divorced just under 2 years later in August 2013. Their divorce appeared amicable as they filed for a no-fault divorce due to irreconcilable differences and they parted ways. Each remarried, Meghan, of course, marrying her Prince Charming, Harry on May 19th, 2018, and Trevor, marrying dietitian Tracey Kurlan on May 11th, 2019.
Before marrying Tracey, Trevor actually dated Real Housewives of New York City's Bethenny Frankel! Trevor has just become a father for the first time with his bride Tracey and of course, Harry and Meghan welcomed perfect Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor!
Although Meghan Markle's first marriage was not meant to be, their decision to go separate ways led both her and Trevor to find their true loves.
