Idris Elba Says Meghan Sent Him DJ Playlist For Wedding To Harry

In a recent interview, Idris Elba talked playing DJ for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding! The actor shared why it was important to him, and mentioned that the Duchess of Sussex helped him out by sharing some music. Find out what he said about being part of their special day!

Idris Elba had the honour of playing a special role during Meghan Markle's wedding to Prince Harry in 2018! The actor served as DJ for the royal event, and during a recent interview with the Daily Mail, he revealed that Meghan actually provided him with a playlist!

Elba on DJing for Meghan: "I knew what she wanted"

Elba began by saying that that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are "good friends" of his. As a result, he admitted that he felt "a lot of pressure" when it came time to DJing their wedding, which he considered to be "a big, big deal." However, he shared that a special contribution from Meghan certainly made things easier!

The actor revealed that the Duchess of Sussex "sent me a playlist, so I knew what she wanted already." One of the songs on the playlist was of course the iconic Whitney Houston song "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," which it was previously reported that Meghan and Harry got down to for their first dance as a married couple.

Though he has previously DJed for high-profile celebrities such as Madonna, Elba said the royal wedding is the most intimidating event he's been involved with. Meghan and Harry took their reception party to Frogmore House, an event hall that's on the same property as the couple's United Kingdom home of Frogmore Cottage. In 2020, Meghan and Harry paid off the renovation loans on the estate as they began their new life as a family in California, and they welcomed daughter Lilibet this summer.
