Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan honoured important women in their lives with their newborn daughter's name.
Baby Lilibet Diana arrived last week on June 4, and the parents paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana with the names. But the name Lilibet also has a connection to Meghan's mom Doria Ragland which has been going under the radar.
Lilibet: Harry and Meghan's baby name honours Doria Ragland
Harry and Meghan are calling their daughter Lili, and that's where the special connection to Doria comes in. As People pointed out, one of Meghan's childhood nicknames from her mother was "Flower."
She revealed that on her now-defunct blog The Tig. Given the floral sound of Lili, the Duke and Duchess may also have viewed the name as a tribute to Meghan's mom, who called her daughter "her Flower."
Meghan Markle's mom Doria Ragland is visiting baby Lili
Since the baby's arrival, Doria Ragland has reportedly been spending time at Harry and Meghan's mansion in Santa Barbara.
The 64-year-old wasn't able to be at the birth, but she is "overjoyed" at having a granddaughter and is helping out at the Sussex home, a source told Page Six.
Meghan gave birth to baby Lili last week on Friday morning. In the birth announcement, the parents explained the inspirations behind the names Lilibet and Diana. They wrote:
"Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales."
We can now add in the subtle tribute to Doria as well. See all the Royal Family reactions to baby Lili here.
