Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's daughter Lilibet Diana will soon be baptized, but plans for the event are still under wraps.
It was initially reported that Prince Harry wanted a royal christening ceremony in the UK. However, it now sounds more like Lili will be baptized in the US after all, in what's likely to be a private event.
Lilibet Diana: Royal baptism in the UK or in the US?
An insider this week told Express that the couple — as with their son Archie — will go ahead with a secretive ceremony.
"It seems certain that her christening will be in Meghan's home state and with the secrecy but without the controversy that surrounded Archie's christening," said expert Richard Fitzwilliams.
He suggests the baptism will take place in California and the couple will not venture to the UK, as was first thought.
So far, Meghan and Harry have kept their newborn daughter out of the public eye as much as possible. They haven't yet shared a picture of little Lilibet Diana, who is now 2 months old.
The couple has also tried to build privacy for Archie. When he was baptized, there was no press or fans, and the godparents were kept secret — a decision that caused controversy at the time.
A ceremony in California would mean Lili would likely not follow royal christening tradition, like her brother did in the UK with the Queen. It's unlikely the royals would travel across the pond for the event, nor would Lili wear the royal christening gown.
Lilibet Diana has not yet met her British relatives in person. But, whether in Windsor or California, the family is surely looking forward to the upcoming ceremony. We're curious to see how it will actually go.
