Princess Charlotte looks beautiful in new photo

Prince William (41) and Duchess Kate shared the latest photo of Princess Charlotte on their official Instagram channel. The charming portrait was captured in Windsor in the days leading up to her birthday.

In the picture, Charlotte beams with joy as she leans against a backdrop of blooming flowers, sporting a wine-red cardigan paired with a blue denim skirt.

In their caption accompanying the picture, her parents wrote:  "Happy 9th birthday, Princess Charlotte. Thank you for all the kind messages today".

The photo comes just one week after the celebration of her youngest brother Prince Louis' 6th birthday, who was also celebrated with a photo taken by their mother.

The history of portraits

Since the birth of Prince George (10), William and Kate have upheld the tradition of releasing new portraits of their children each year to commemorate their birthdays.

This annual ritual not only provides a glimpse into the royal family's life but also highlights Kate's talent and passion for photography.

The decision to share the photos on the actual birthday, rather than the night before as previously done, reflects a subtle shift towards prioritizing privacy and intimacy.
