- Sad career news for Duchess Meghan
- She was creating a TV show with Netflix
- The streamer has cancelled her show Pearl
Duchess Meghan's comeback just took a hit. The royal recently lined up a bunch of media work, including her own Spotify podcast and TV shows with Netflix. But it turns out one of Meghan's biggest projects is no longer happening.
Sad news for Meghan: Her Netflix cartoon is cancelled
Netflix has scrapped Duchess Meghan's cartoon Pearl, which was just announced last summer. Deadline broke the news today. They say Meghan's show is a victim of "a wave of cutbacks" at the streamer.
Pearl would have been an animated children's show about a young girl who finds inspiration in historical women. Meghan previously said she was "thrilled" and "eager" to make the show.
Also interesting:
Pearl has been cancelled despite Meghan and Prince Harry's production deal with Netflix. The couple's first Netflix show is still happening, however. It's a documentary about the Invictus Games, which was finally filmed at the competition last month.
If you're out of the loop: Meghan and Prince Harry quit work with the Royal Family for good in early 2021. They've partnered on work with Spotify and Netflix, among others, but we haven't seen much content from them yet.
Some of Meghan and Harry's shows will debut in the near future — but not Pearl. The Duchess of Sussex is also launching her Spotify podcast this summer.
