Sad news for the Royal Family: Duchess Camilla's aunt, Elspeth Howe, died on Tuesday night. Elspeth, the Baroness Howe of Idlicote, passed away at age 90 after a battle with cancer, according to the British press.

Duchess Camilla called the death of her aunt Elspeth a "sad time for all the family," reports the Daily Mail. Elspeth Howe (née Shand) was the half-sister of Camilla's father, Bruce Shand. Elspeth and Bruce were two of three children born to P. Morton Shand.
Elspeth Shand was born in 1932. The wife of Geoffrey Howe, Baron Howe of Aberavon, she was a notable figure in British politics and a long-time public servant. Her achievements include being made a British life peer and a CBE.

The Baroness Howe had retired in 2020 and was recently battling cancer. She died at her home in Warwickshire, England, on March 22. Elspeth had celebrated her 90th birthday just one month earlier.
