Prince William tweeted about Mzimba's death:
"I’m deeply saddened to learn of the killing of Anton Mzimba who I spoke to in November. Committed and brave, rangers like Anton are central to the conservation of Africa’s fantastic wildlife. Those responsible must swiftly be brought to justice. My thoughts are with his family," wrote William.

Anton was a senior ranger at the Timbavati Nature Reserve in Mpumalanga, South Africa, and was active in the anti-poaching department. For this reason, Prince William's acquaintance is said to have been threatened by poachers before his death.
Mzimba was shot dead in front of his home, according to the official Twitter account of the animal welfare organization Helping Rhinos.
