Thank GOODNESS, funny girl Amanda Seales hosted this years BET Awards. She brought the laughs and also the important issues we should be paying attention to during the 20th annual BET Awards.

The two Waynes, Wayne Brady and Lil Wayne each brought their own homages to our stars we lost this year. Brady went full throttle for his cover of the late Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti" while sporting a Richard-Esque gold tuxedo. His performance was so high energy and impressive Little Richard would be proud. Lil Wayne closed the ceremony with his song "Kobe Bryant." The lyrics expressed deep love and respect for the NBA great who passed away tragically in a helicopter crash with his daughter and 7 others in January.

At one point inspirational former First Lady Michelle Obama presented Beyoncé Knowles with the Humanitarian Award for her many philanthropic ventures. Her foundation BeyGOOD raises funds for girls and women around the world and her song "Black Parade" was released to create the BeyGood's Black Business Fund to support Black-owned small businesses, and she even worked hard to help during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Michelle perfectly said, "She's always turning up, looking out, and making us all a little bigger, better, a little more fierce." Beyoncé and her incredible daughter Blue Ivy also won an award for their song "Brown Skin Girl."

Black Lives Matter Movement In The BET Awards

Countless performances were in honor of the victims of police brutality like DaBaby and Roddy Rich's remix music video for "Rock Star" which recreated the moment in which a police office kneeled on George Floyd's neck. Other greats like Viola Davis, Quincy Jones, and Spike Lee also spoke the names of countless other murder victims of racism in the US like Eric Garner, Rayshard Brooks, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Breonna Taylor, Emmett Till, and Malcom X.

To release tension, Amanda Seales stepped it up with amazing skits like her "Karen Support Group" skit where she "infiltrated" a group of "Karens" complaining about Black Americans during a video chat. Amanda was very straight to the point with every line she delivered and who she was talking about, taking a shot at anyone pushing back against the Black Lives Matter movement.
