Beyoncé Knowles Chimes In On Bungled Breonna Taylor Case

The 21-time Grammy Award winner has made her voice loud and clear in a letter to Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron. Like much of the country, she is outraged at Breonna Taylor's murder on March 13th, 2020. 26-year old Breonna, a well-respected EMT, was shot 8 times while in her bed when plain-clothes police officers conducted a "no-knock" warrant on the wrong home shortly after midnight.

Since then, no arrests or criminal charges have been made and the incident report filed by the Louisville Police Department is riddled with evidence of a coverup such as claiming that Breonna suffered no injuries, even though she died from 8 bullet wounds.

The "Formation" singer has written directly to the powers that be in charge of justice saying "The LMPD’s investigation was turned over to your office, and yet all of the officers involved in the shooting remain employed by the LMPD. Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and Officers Myles Cosgrove and Brett Hankison must be held accountable for their actions."

The incredibly well-spoken and eloquent Beyoncé demanded "Don’t let this case fall into the pattern of no action after a terrible tragedy. With every death of a Black person at the hands of the police, there are two real tragedies: the death itself, and the inaction and delays that follow it. This is your chance to end that pattern. Take swift and decisive action in charging the officers. The next months cannot look like the last three."

Famously outspoken Beyoncé also supports Senator Rand Paul's "Justice for Breonna Taylor Act" which has banned no-knock warrants. Breonna's heartbroken family has yet to see her killer's face repercussions and hopefully, with the continued added pressure and their wrongful death lawsuit, something will finally move in the right direction.
