  • Let's take a look at his career through the years here

Canadian singer, songwriter, and actor Paul Anka was born July 30, 1941, in Ottawa. Getting his start with the St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral choir, Paul would go on to study music theory and piano before becoming the star he is known as today!

By the age of 14, Paul Anka had recorded his first single titled "I Confess". Armed with his single and $100, Paul would move to the Big Apple to try and kick start his professional career!

It wouldn't take Paul long to make it big, and by 1958 he had released number 1 song "Diana" along with four more singles that would make it to the top 20! By the age of 17, Paul was not only touring with singer Buddy Holly but one of the biggest teen idols of the time both in North America and Europe!

Paul Anka Early Career

Paul Anka's success would only go uphill from there. Throughout his early career Paul would write the theme for The Tonight Show, Tom Jones hit "She's a Lady", and Frank Sinatra hit "My Way".

It was during this time that Paul would also try his luck on the big screen, both acting in and writing the music for many hit films including The Longest Day (1962), from which hit "Lonely Boy" was born, and NBC crime drama Dan Raven

Unfortunately, the British Invasion of the mid-1960s would stall Anka's career for a good part of the 1960s and 70s, but he would finally make his comeback in 1974 with number 1 hit "(You're) Having My Baby". The move would help Paul gain a younger fan base and revitalize his career!

Paul's last album release was in 2013 with Duets and in his later years, the now 83-year-old has also continued to act with appearances in hit series Gilmore Girls and The Simpsons. The star has been married three times now, with his most recent marriage to Lisa Pemberton in 2016. Anka has six children shared with his ex-wives model Anne de Zogheb and model Anna Åberg.
