St. Elsewhere star William Daniels is a well-known face on television! When you were watching TV in the 1980s and '90s, you were sure to encounter William Daniels (or at least his voice!) in one of his many roles in a vast number of television shows. Williams grew up in New York City during the 1930s and served in World War II - he was stationed as a radio DJ in Italy.
St. Elsewhere star William Daniels' Early Career
One of his first notable roles was as Dustin Hoffman's father "Mr. Braddock" in the award-winning movie The Graduate in 1967. Daniels went on to star as John Adams in the 1972 musical movie 1776 and then became part of the main cast of The Nancy Walker Show from 1976 until 1977.

Then in 1982, Daniels did not get one but two career-defining roles in the same year. He was cast as "Dr. Mark Craig" in St. Elsewhere and as the voice of "KITT" in Knight Rider. He starred as "Dr. Craig" alongside TV legends like Mark Harmon and David Morse for all six seasons of the show and managed to also do the voice for "Michael Knight's" (David Hasselhoff) famous speaking car until 1986.
In the 1990's he joined another popular TV show and played the role of the teacher "George Feeny" for 148 episodes in Boy Meets World. When the show ended, Daniels was already in his mid-seventies, and in the 2000s, he only did a couple of guest appearances on shows like The King of Queens, Boston Legal and Grey's Anatomy.
William Daniels: His personal life
Daniels made his last appearance on TV, actually reprising his role as "Geroge Feeny", in Girls Meets World in 2017 and in the same year published his autobiography titled "There I Go Again: How I Came to Be Mr. Feeny, John Adams, Dr. Craig, KITT, and Many Others". Ever since 1951, the 97-year-old has been married to fellow actress and Emmy-winner Bonnie Bartlett and they adopted two sons, who also work in the entertainment industry.
