Jon Cryer and Friend Charlie Sheen As The "Harper Brothers"
Jon Cryer and Charlie Sheen worked together for years onset of Two and a Half Men as brothers "Charlie and Alan Harper", even while Charlie's erratic behavior began to affect the cast and crew. During an interview on PeopleTV's "Couch Surfing," Cryer said "Charlie and I really hit it off. We had a great first few years on that show."
That is of course until Charlie began to use drugs again after his marriage to Denise Richards failed. The Pretty In Pink star dished: "At first he could handle it, and he was still incredibly professional, and still lovely, by the way, to everybody on set, but you could just see that stuff was wearing on him."
Onset Tension Around Two And A Half Men's Charlie Sheen's Behavior
Jon Cryer talked of the tension and uncertainty on set after "one of the first internet s***storms, plus there's the fact that all of our jobs are tied into this guy, and we're all his friends. It was very, very strange and [there were] aspects of it I absolutely hated, but you know, I'm thankful for the years that were great." Ultimately, Charlie's actions cost him the starring role on the hit show and was fired for "dangerously self-destructive conduct".
