On Thursday, Tim Allen, whom we all know and love as the voice of "Buzz Lightyear" in Toy Story, appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show. The 66-year-old actor and comedian got a little emotional when it came to discussing the fact that he has been drug and alcohol-free for 22 years now.
Tim Allen has been sober for 22 years
He told host Kelly Clarkson that somebody reached out tom him before he got sober: "Because I had money and I was a star, people helped, they enable you to get by," he describes his experience.
"It doesn't happen overnight," he explains. "It's a day-to-day thing.... But giving back what somebody gives you, that's ... I see this happen right here, this is a miracle. I see it in my particular program."
But while he might have had it easier in his position, Kelly Clarkson still commended Allen for the fact that he was able to accept the help that was offered to him at the time. Allen emphasized that it's not all about receiving, but giving back!

"The program I practice, it's all about as soon as you get it, you gotta give it away. A kid can't hold on to all these toys, and every time he sees a new toy, and he goes, 'Mine,' you gotta drop one of those before you can grab another one."
What an inspiration! Tim Allen knows what he's talking about - he's not only had trouble with substance abuse, but also served a prison sentence for drug trafficking back in the day...
