Embeth Davidtz from Mad Men past and present
Embeth Davidtz of Mad Men was born on August 11, 1965, in Indiana, but moved to her family's native country of South Africa when she was nine years old. She first had her start in acting on the theatre stage, where she performed both in English and Afrikaans in productions like Romeo & Juliet and A Chain of Voices, earning her the nomination equivalent of a Tony Award.
Her first film roles were in South African movies, where she also gained praise and recognition! It was in 1992 when Steven Spielberg noticed her performance in the film Nag van die Negentiende, which led him to offer her the role of "Helen Hirsch" in Schindler's List (1993).
Embeth then went on to play the lovable "Miss Honey" in the 1996 film, Matilda, and as Colin Firth's love interest in Bridget Jones' Diary (2001). Other films of hers include:

She also came back as "Dr. Nancy Shepherd" in a 2019 episode of Grey's Anatomy. Davidtz has been married to entertainment lawyer Jason Sloane since 2002 and they have two children together!
