Jim Carrey was born in Ontario, Canada, but moved to Los Angeles in the late '70s to pursue a career in comedy. However, it wasn't until 2004 that the famous actor became an official citizen of the U.S. Carrey's main reason for becoming a naturalized citizen was to be able to vote in American elections.

Comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish grew up in Los Angeles, but her father was originally from the country Eritrea. "My father is from Eritrea and he passed away last year—and he said one say I would end up here", Tiffany stated at the 2018 Oscars. She visited Eritrea in May 2019 where she applied for and obtained citizenship.
