These 14 Actors Were Severely Injured While Filming

The Monster star Charlize Theron herniated a disk near her spine while she was performing a series of backflips on the set of Æon Flux. The actress claimed to be "paralyzed and scared" after the injury, but learned from it in a very positive way - she was extremely cautious about her stunt work in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Yes. Even "James Bond" gets hurt sometimes. Daniel Craig required eight stitches after being kicked in the face while filming Quentum of Solace. He also knocked out his two front teeth on the set of Casino Royale, and his dentist had to be flown into the Barbados after receiving an emergency call.

In 2000 the gorgeous Nicole Kidman fractured two of her ribs and her knee while filming a dance scene on the set of Moulin Rouge. Fun fact is that she had to sit down to flim many of the scenes afterwards, in order to hide her knee.

You probably know George Clooney won an Academy Award for his role in the 2005 film Syriana, but he actually suffered such severe injuries while filming it that he even considered committing suicide. “There was this scene where I was taped to a chair and getting beaten up, and we did quite a few takes. While filming Thor: The Dark World, Jaimie Alexander had a serious accident. After falling on the set of the movie, she herniated a disk in her spine and dislocated her shoulder. She knew she was "in big trouble" when she was not able to get off the ground. Alexander stayed one week in the hospital and went back to work after one month of physical rehab.

Back in the days Channing Tatum was filming The Eagle in Scotland, where one of his scenes required one of the crew members to pour boiling water mixed with river water into the actor's face. At some point the crew member forgot to dillude the kettle with cold water and severely scalded Channing's body. The actor's clothes kept the boiling water against his skin and burned it. He was taken to the hospital immediately.

The Orange is the New Black star Ruby Rose recently got injured while filming the superhero television series Batwoman. Ruby posed a graphic video of the emergency surgery she got while doing stunt work. She herniated two discs which eventually started to affect her spinal chord. 

Michael J. Fox had a terrible accident when he was filming his iconic film Back to the Future Part III. You probably remember the scene where "Doc Brown" (Christopher Lloyd) saves "Marty" from being hung by the Tannen gang. Well... Michael J. Fox really had a noose around his neck and during the seventh take he mistimed moving his hand to save his own life. He passed out for half a minute.

The fabulous Ellen Burstyn had to perform a very risky scene while filming The Exorcist. Director William Friedkin instructed a stuntman to yank Ellen on a wire, with the intention of making the scene look as real as possible. When the actress told Friedkin she was afraid of getting seriously hurt, he instructed the stuntman not to pull her so hard - then he went behind her back and told him "give it to her." The result: Burstyn was pulled so hard that she ended up flying across the room and landing on her coccyx. She was so furious -as it can be seen on the film- not only because Friedkin didn't care about her fear, but also because he actually wanted to get a quick shot of it before calling an ambulance

Justin Theroux was filming The Spy Who Dumped Me when he suffered a head injury. During an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show the actor explained he had a scooter accident: "I grab both breaks, skidded out and kinda went flying off the bike and landed on my head. I broke my head open,” he said
