That '70s Show Star "Hyde" Charged With Rape
Otherwise known as "Hyde", Danny Masterson has now been officially charged with 3 counts of forcible rape by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. Now 44, the That '70s Show star is facing the serious charges from crimes allegedly committed between 2001 and 2003.
According to the District Attorney's office, there were 5 accusations in total but two sexual assault charges were not pursued due to insufficient evidence and one for surpassing the statute of limitations. He could face 45 years to life in prison if found guilty of these crimes.
Danny Masterson's attorney Tom Mesereau made a statement to People saying "Mr. Masterson is innocent, and we're confident that he will be exonerated when all the evidence finally comes to light and witnesses have the opportunity to testify."
"Obviously, Mr. Masterson and his wife are in complete shock considering that these nearly 20-year old allegations are suddenly resulting in charges being filed, but they and their family are comforted knowing that ultimately the truth will come out. The people who know Mr. Masterson know his character and know the allegations to be false.”
Last August, 4 of his alleged victims filed a suit against him and the Church of Scientology of which he and his siblings are members for stalking and intimidation after officially coming forward. The Church of Scientology has a history of covering up scandals and stalking and harassing those who leave the Church or expose the Church, much of which has been documented in the films and shows Going Clear, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, My Scientology Movie, and many others.
Masterson alleges that these claims against him are false and are simply due to a scorned ex-girlfriend of his and others "who jumped on the bandwagon."
