Alyssa Edwards was actually born Justin Dwayne Lee Johnson in suburban Texas on January 16, 1980. Her rise to fame is attributed to her drag lifestyle, where she started competing and performing in drag by the early 2000s. Her colorful career has taken off and inspired many to be creative and not be afraid of their dreams.

Before her life on RuPaul, Edwards starred in the 2008 documentary, Pageant, which showcased the life of the Miss Gay America competition. She clearly had talent from the beginning of her drag days and was a fan favorite on RuPaul's Drag Race.

Even after her elimination from the fifth season, she continued to make a few more appearances with RuPaul, including RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars.
