Meg Ryan (61, actress) and David Duchovny (63, actor) recently revealed their favorite romantic comedies during a special screening of their new movie, 'What Happens Later,' in New York City.

They share their favorite rom-coms

When asked about their favorite "screwball comedies or rom-com ever," Duchovny, known for his dry humor, quipped, 'Last Tango in Paris,' a controversial 1972 drama starring Marlon Brando.

Hot news:

Ryan, the queen of rom-coms with iconic films like 'When Harry Met Sally...', 'Sleepless in Seattle,' and 'You've Got Mail' under her belt, confessed her love for 'Bringing up Baby,' the 1938 classic starring Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant.

The Magic of Movies

Ryan, who also co-wrote and directed 'What Happens Later,' shared her perspective on the magic of movies. She said, "I'm not going to be taught anything... I'm going to have my heart opened or be thrilled or go on a ride. I just want to feel things. I think the movies are primarily about wonder."

'What Happens Later' follows the story of two exes, Bill and Willa, who unexpectedly reunite after years at an airport, leading to a snowed-in overnight stay. The film, which Ryan formally announced in 2022, comes eight years after her directorial debut with 2015's 'Ithaca.'

During the Q&A, the stars debated whether the film is more of a romantic comedy or drama, with Duchovny humorously suggesting the term "rom-dram."

A movie for all ages

While the film explores mature themes, both stars agreed that it would appeal to younger audiences as well. "It's also for 20-year-olds," Ryan confirmed.

'What Happens Later' is set to hit theaters this Friday.
